Founded in 1875, the YWCA is a non-profit organization that is part of the Montreal community landscape.
For 135 years, it has contributed to improving the lives of women and girls by increasing their self-esteem and autonomy, encouraging their personal growth and preventing all forms of violence through various programs adapted to their real needs.

The Women’s Y Foundation has announced the names of the laureates of the 2010 Women of Distinction Awards which will be presented during a benefit evening on October 4th.

LITERACY AND EMPLOYMENT: A NEW WORDS FOR WOMEN INITIATIVE
The Literacy Service has launched a new project associated with literacy and employment. This action-research project aims to develop a new approach to help participants acquire skills which will give them access to certain training programs such as those related to employment integration.

LEGAL INFORMATION CLINIC
Did you know that the YWCA Montreal offers both women and men a legal information service for the cost of $5 per 30-minute individual session? This service is offered by appointment only, and provided by volunteer lawyers and notaries. Each individual can benefit from this service a maximum of 3 times per year.

The facilitation guide which accompanies the film “Sexy inc. Our children under influence” (youth version) is now available!
The goal of the facilitation guide is to make young people aged 14 to 17 aware of the issues surrounding sexualization.
